Benld UMC
1919 Church
Benld United Methodist History
In 1919, when the Baptist congregation could no longer make the payments to
retire the mortgage on their church, they sold it to the Methodist Board of
Missions.

In 1939, Benld became a station served by supply pastors, retired ministers,
lay pastors, and local pastors.

In 1952, the sanctuary was remodeled and refurbished. It was again redone in
1959.

The educational building, consecrated November 1964 and dedicated May
1967, was built in honor of Mrs. Mamie Webster, widow of Reverend J. W.
Webster for her service to Christian education in the Benld community, across
the conference, and throughout Methodism during service as a deaconess in
the Methodist Church.

The following pastors have served Benld: J. W. Webster, C. H. Spragg, L. W.
Cralley, L. G. Beers, Otto Horsley, T. A. Martin, R. R. Howe, Oliver Keiser,
Alvin Whittemore, J. W. Webster, Robert Mushrush, Paul Motzer, Richard
Stowe, E. Arthur Hurry, Nelson Reiber, Donna Snyder, Dale Wilfong, Eda
Hackmann, and currently Mark Milhouse, shown left.

The rest of our history is currently being written. Be part of it.
